Roofing daily report template

Roofing is the trade most controlled by the weather, and the record of what was dried in each night matters when a leak shows up. A roofing daily report should cover area installed, deck condition, weather limits and what was left watertight at the end of the day.

Who fills it out

Roofing foreman, reviewed by the roofing project manager and the general contractor's superintendent.

Every report covers

  • Date, project, location and report author
  • Weather (morning and afternoon) and its impact on work
  • Manpower and hours by company and role
  • Work completed by area or location
  • Delays, issues and hours lost
  • Deliveries and equipment on site
  • Inspections and visitors
  • Safety notes (safety meeting held, incidents, near misses)
  • Photos with captions
  • Foreman sign-off

Disputes this record helps settle

  • Leaks into the building and whether the roof was dried in
  • Wet deck or insulation covered by others' schedule pressure

Frequently asked questions

Why record a night seal or dry-in on the daily report?

If water gets in overnight, the record of what was left watertight, with a photo, decides whether the roof or something else caused the leak.

What weather details matter for roofing?

Temperature at application, wind, and precipitation. Many roofing products have temperature limits, and wind affects both safety and material handling.
