Plumbing daily report template
Plumbing gets buried in slabs and walls early, then gets tested and inspected before anyone can cover it. The daily report is where the crew proves what was installed, tested and signed off before the next trade closed it in.
Who fills it out
Plumbing foreman, reviewed by the plumbing project manager and the general contractor's superintendent.
Every report covers
- Date, project, location and report author
- Weather (morning and afternoon) and its impact on work
- Manpower and hours by company and role
- Work completed by area or location
- Delays, issues and hours lost
- Deliveries and equipment on site
- Inspections and visitors
- Safety notes (safety meeting held, incidents, near misses)
- Photos with captions
- Foreman sign-off
Plumbing fields to add
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Phase and area | Underground, rough-in, top-out or trim, with level and area. Phases drive inspections. |
| Pipe installed by system, material and size | Waste, vent, domestic water, gas or storm. Footage supports billing and tracking. |
| Pressure and water tests | System, test method, test pressure or head, duration and result, per local code and the spec. Note who witnessed it. |
| Sleeves and penetrations | Sleeves set before pours and penetrations through rated assemblies. Firestopping responsibility is a common gap. |
| Inspection status | Underground, rough-in and final inspections with inspector name and corrections. |
| Fixtures and equipment set | Water heaters, pumps and fixtures installed, with any damage on delivery. |
| Water shutoffs and tie-ins | Planned and emergency shutoffs, durations and who was notified. Critical on occupied projects. |
Inspections and tests to log
- Underground plumbing inspection and test before backfill
- Rough-in inspection and DWV test

Weather
Freezing temperatures affect testing with water and any charged lines in unheated buildings. Rain and groundwater affect underground work. Note both.
